Career Opportunities at FAST

A survey of IT industry, conducted by PLDAT, clearly states that fifty two percent of IT sector in Pakistan is occupied by FAST graduates. Despite the fact that there is no institutional struggle for entrepreneurship, the success of FASTins is due to the career opportunities provided by FAST. First, FAST Alumni provides support for their university mates. They know the difficulties and depression faced by juniors, therefore, they prefer FASTins instead of other universities’ graduates. FAST Alumni with graduates from all academic programs forms an integral part of the university. This ever-growing body represents a rich resource base for the university with its huge reservoir of diverse talents and expertise spanning over areas like management, engineering, information technology, economics and social sciences.

Second, some events are specially arranged for the recruitment of final year students in different companies. SOFTEC is the best example of it. Although its main purpose is to motivate computer science (CS) studies, but many companies and software houses come and hire some graduates. Among these companies the leading ones include google, Netsole, coca-cola and venture drive etc. Although FAST provides many job opportunities, but entrepreneurship is almost pointing to zero. Administration is not focusing on strategies to promote entrepreneurship among students. They are just training them as machines, who do very well at programing but hesitate to innovate new ideas. Concluding the whole discussion, FAST is performing well for IT industry but it needs hard work for promotion of entrepreneurship.
